President Street Townhouse

After decades of renovations, the original details of this pre-war apartment located in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn were reinvigorated with a new design that kept in mind the traditional trappings of a historic 1900s brownstone home. Gut renovations provided new plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems to the apartment. Family-oriented and light-filled, our design called for multiple renovations: the bright parlor floor was fitted with a rear window wall, framed with steel to let plenty of northern light into the apartment space. A back deck extends the dining and kitchen area to open up the living spaces into the green backyard.

The new kitchen is built with floor to ceiling white wood cabinetry with a white marble waterfall island counter. A globular pendant chandelier completes the dining area. Interior details from the wide paneled wood floors, to the original marble fireplace and the terrazzo bathroom flooring give this apartment a contemporary feel without compromising the enduring historic elements of a classic brownstone home in Brooklyn.

The new design keeps in mind traditional brownstone spaces and reveals them for a family-oriented light-filled space.

The bright parlor floor received a new rear steel window wall to let lots of northern light into the home.
