Fountain House Farm Village

The Village is a collection of micro-cabins that act as housing for the mental health wellness initiative program at High Point Farm, an alpaca farm in the green hills of New Jersey. The cabins serve to provide simple shelter and to allow members to connect with nature. Each cabin is conceptualized as an incubator for wellness and rest. Large single pane corner windows maximize the beauty of each sunrise and sunset in the living space. The living space is oriented to the view, as if to pull the beauty of the hillside into the cabin, allowing visitors to connect with the natural world. Cabins are strung together along a meandering forest path and insulated by a pocket of vegetation. One row of cabins faces the pond, while a second interior row faces into the forest.

The collection of cabins form a modular community, where the furthest cabin is only a 7-minute walk to and from the main Farm, a chalet, and a lodge. Each cabin along the constellation is a warm, quiet, and nurturing space that centers the experience of the user by providing a design that encourages healthy solitude and communal activities alike. Each structure is built to maximize the beautiful view of the surrounding meadow it sits on, while maintaining privacy and without compromising accessibility.
