Fountain House Farm Lodge
The Fountain House Farm Lodge is the main gathering space and center of the mental wellness program at High Point Farm. Existing agricultural buildings provided inspiration and sparked a dialogue between our contemporary design and the natural world. Located in a sparse pine grove, the Lodge is organized by community use with a small community center, building support space, and a large gathering hall to the west. Approaching from the exterior, the sequence of spaces takes members from the land, through an entry threshold, and finally into a voluminous gathering hall with views facing back to the land and up to the sky. The structure of the dining hall space is tented and fitted with a wall-sized window, infusing the space with natural afternoon light and views of the pond.
Beyond, outdoor space is terraced in a cascade of decks that allow for dynamic levels of activity and engagement. Breaking up the crowd without losing sight of other visitors, unifying the indoor and outdoor elements of the design. A smaller tented roof echoes that of the main hall, with a multi-paned glass window to ventilate a more intimate meeting room. A recessed space to the east with an exit door and outdoor seating, allows for private or quiet moments. The sky stoops low to the pitch of the roof.
