Farm Studios
The design concept behind these 280-square-foot Farm Studios weaves together the realms of individuality and community—balancing the concept of a single unit with the idea of collective living, and blending the notions of personal identity through solitude and small-scale living. These diminutive mobile apartments are meticulously crafted using a CNC-cut steel frame and plywood. These snug spaces are enveloped by eco-friendly, bio-based spray foam insulation, giving them distinctive shapes, bright colors, and a bulbous texture.
Circular windows across the roof and sides of the bean-shaped structures mimic the movement of the earth rise as the prototype travels or as the sun moves across the sky. A soy-based sealer is employed to complete the insulation. A harmonious and direct connection is forged between the farm, the crop, and the dwelling.
